About Calories Look Like
Calories Look Like shows what 100 calories of everyday food actually looks like, in grams, ounces and things you can count. The idea is simple: once you can see a portion, you stop guessing.
Where the numbers come from
Every calorie, macro and portion weight on this site comes from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy dataset). Each food page names the exact USDA entry and FDC ID we used, so you can check it. Grams for 100 kcal are calculated as 100 ÷ calories per gram; counts (almonds, eggs, slices) use USDA household portion weights.
Our approach
We focus on calorie density and portion awareness, not on banning foods. Brands, varieties and recipes differ, so treat the numbers as close estimates for the plain food described.
